Nail Polish Collection!

Hi Guys!

This week I'm going to show you all my nail polishes and give them all a little mini review. Prepare yourself for a longer one today, so grab yourself a cuppa and a treat!

I store them in this Feel Unique box I got a while ago. it's perfect for keeping them all together and it just sits nicely on my desk for easy access.

Revlon

Pure cashmere (pink one), graceful (browny grey), iconic (dark grey) and 965 (clear)
Top tip: look in Poundland for Revlon nail polishes as quite often they have them!

Revlon Colorstay in Pure Cashmere (now discontinued)

This one is probably my least favourite of the four. It is a little sheer and takes quite a few coats to build it up. It's a kind of a baby pink colour that looks lovely in spring/ summer. Also I got this from Poundland ages ago, so even though I don't love it, I don't really feel like I've lost anything.

Revlon Nail Enamel in Graceful

This one is by far by favourite nail polish in my collection. It's great for wearing everyday as it is one of those that you can wear with anything really. It is definitely my most used and the bonus was I got it from Poundland!

Revlon Nail Enamel in Iconic

After my success with Graceful I decided to pick up Iconic as it was another of those that could be worn with anything. I definitely prefer Graceful, but this comes in a close second. It's a great one for all times of the year, but I think it is best in the winter, teamed with a thick grey scarf, I think it would look lovely.

Revlon Multi Care Base and Top Coat

I picked this up at the same time as Iconic as it was on a 2 for £10 offer. It's great for maintain the condition of your nails and makes your nail look shinier. This is probably the best top coat in my collection.

Seventeen

Lilac Love, Mint Bon Bon and Peach Treat
Seventeen is a brand that I believe belongs to Boots. I went through a phase in Spring last year where I loved these (which is why the colours are so wacky!)

Seventeen Quicker Slicker Colour in Lilac Love

As well as having a phase for brightly coloured nail polishes, I also had a phase for quick dry ones. When it's nice outside you don't want to wait for 654 hours for your nail polish to dry. Obviously the down side to this is you have to put on more coats and generally the more coats you put on the longer it takes to dry. However the colour is probably what really drew me in was the amazing colour. On the nails it is slightly less of a pastel lilac, but it is still a lovely colour and perfect for the spring!

Seventeen Gel Color in Mint Bon Bon and Peach Treat

I thought I would combine these together as I basically have the same thing to say about them. My first thought after taking these out to take their picture was what the heck possessed me! The colours seem really something I would never have gone for and can't really wear with anything. I personally think that the gel effect isn't really any different to a normal nail polish. All in all it is basically just like a normal nail polish, but with a thicker consistency.

Rimmel

Breakfast in Bed

Rimmel 60 second Rita Ora Nail Polish in Breakfast In Bed

This one is lonely (sad face). This was another one I bought just after the Seventeen ones and if I'm honest it was not what I was expecting. I was drawn to this not only for the fact that I wouldn't have to wait ages to dry, but also the colour. It was a lovely kind of pastel blue colour and perfect for spring. However I didn't realise it has small little bit of glitter in it. Not exactly my cup of tea, but I can cope with it.

Barry M

Blackberry, Dragon, Raspberry

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Blackberry and Dragon

I think I have come to the conclusion that I just don't like gel effect nail polishes. They takes super long to dry and I am just too impatient! However I do really like the colour of Blackberry as I wear so much navy blue it is unreal! On the other hand Dragon is another one of those that I don't know what possessed me. I was hoping for a nice rosy subtle pink colour, but this kind of reminds me of barbie. It is much to bright for my liking!

Barry M Nail paint in Raspberry

This is probably the oldest nail polish in my collection and is sort of starting to go a bit weird, but it is a really good nail polish. I much prefer the original formula to the gel effect as it takes considerably less time to dry. One coat would be find (as seen in picture above), however it would probably be better with two.

No7

Temptress, Damson Dream, Beanie
No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour in Temptress, Damson Dream and Beanie

I got these three mini nail polishes in little crackers at Christmas this year. I think they are great as I love the size of them. We all know that, no matter how hard you try, you'll probably never finish a bottle of nail polish. Therefore these mini ones allow you to try different colours, but it also gives you a good chance of actually finishing them (I know shock horror!)

Temptress really baffled me as I couldn't work out what the colour was when I first looked at the bottle. I came to the conclusion that it was a kind of black colour, and this disappointed me as I'm not a massive fan of black nail polish. However when on the nails it was a whole different story! It was a beautiful, deep purple colour which left me thoroughly impressed!

Damson Dream is a little bit like Barry M's Raspberry. However it has a shimmer to it that was perfect for a girl how wants to a bit of glitter during the festive period, but not so much that it blinds people.

Beanie is probably my least favourite of the three, but it is still okay. It looks really lovely in the bottle, but on the nails it is darker, which I personally don't like. But hey you can't win them all.

Sinful Colors

Queen of Beauty, Nail Junkie and Frenzy

Sinful colors nail polish in Queen of Beauty, Nail Junkie and Frenzy

When I got Nail Junkie in my Christmas stocking in 2013 I must admit I was a bit sceptical about how it would turn out. I am not a massive fan of glitter, so to be honest it kind of scared me. However after about five or six coats I was pleasant surprised. It's a really nice glitter greeny blue nail polish with large chunks of gold glitter running through it.

Shortly after I picked up the other two colours. I went for Queen of Beauty which is a nail polish with small chunks of glitter in it to be practical as I thought it would go with anything really. But I went Frenzy as it was just mental! It is probably the best name for a nail polish that I have ever come across. It has blue, pink and purple glitter and was one of those things were you think 'I don't what I'm gonna use you for, but I NEED you in my life'! Also, although they take a fair few coats to create the desired effect, they are good for if you don't want to wait for hours for a nail polish to dry and if they get damaged in the process no one can really notice. Also each coat dries fairly quickly which is good.

Top Coats

In addition to the Revlon one shown earlier I have a couple of other ones that I sometimes use to create a better shine on a nail polish . However I must confess I don't really use them that much of the time as I am lazy and think my nail polish lasts just as well without.

Natural collection Nail Colour in Crystal Clear

This is the most basic top coat I own and is not really advertised as it top coat, but at £1.99 it did me well for a while. It creates a little shine and does take too long to dry.

Link

Sally Hansen Double Duty Base and Top Coat

I got this just before I went to America to make sure that my nail polish lasted whilst I was there. While it wasn't awful, it wasn't really anything special either. Also with some nail polishes it can damage the look, making it worse not better. However it could simply be down to me being impatient.

Accessories

Maybelline Express Remover

Before this I used a nailene one that had bristles on it. Although it worked well at the time, I much prefer this one (also it's a bit cheaper, bonus!) It has a sponge lining that means that the nail polish comes off much more easily and it is really good. It gets right into the corner of the nail, meaning that all of the nail polish is removed. Also the remover is not drying on my nails, which is good.

Nail File

I honestly have no idea where these came from and to be honest i hardly ever use them as they just make my nails look worse. But this is just because I am rubbish at filing by nails.

I really hope you guys enjoyed this weeks blog post.

Stationary Haul!

Hi Guys!

Today I'm gonna talk to you guys about some stationary items I got over the past couple of months.

Whiteboard

I really wanted to get a new whiteboard that was a little bit smaller and lighter, so it would be easier to store. And the best thing is it was only £2 from The Works! It includes a pen with a little eraser on the top. It isn't that great as the black is more of a grey, but it works okay and would be perfectly fine.

Whiteboard pens

The main purpose of the whiteboard was to make mind maps as part of my revision. Therefore I wanted some whiteboard pens that would have a thin nib, so I could actually read my own writing. I haven't used these a lot since getting them, but they do the job well. Also the fact they came in four different colours is good for colour coding. They are the Bic Slim Velleda Whiteboard Marker Pens. I brought them from Amazon for £4.19.

Whiteboard eraser

I was looking for a really simple board rubber just to make sure that my whiteboard stayed relatively clean. I got it on Amazon for 83p! Only problem was it took forever to arrive, but it works perfectly fine.

Noto notebook

This is the BEST notebook I have ever brought! Probably the most expensive, but definitely the best. I absolutely love to write lists (yes I'm crazy!) and it is really lovely looking. I can imagine myself in the corner of a coffee shop writing lists with my amazing notebook. Practically it works well as well. Ringbinders are practical, but doesn't always look as pretty. Whereas the the leather look cover opens up and can be laid open independently. Therefore you have two hands free for typing etc. Also it comes in a variety of colours and a couple of different sizes. I brought the Stone Large Ruled Journal from Paperchase. It was £14, but I had a £5 gift card so I got it for a little cheaper.

Fatface notebook

I got this from my parents for Christmas. It is wackiest notebook I have ever had. At first i thought it was just a book of lined paper. However delve further in and it has every type of paper known to man!

Graph paper

Square paper

Even blue plain paper!
It is still available on the website and it's half price (bonus!)

Record cards

I go through these like they going out of fashion at the moment! They are amazing for quick snippets of revision or having a look at on the go. Personally I use them as question cards, where I write the question on one side and the answer on the other side. Alternatively you could make short summaries of topics on to read just before the exam. I used to get them from W H Smiths, but these Tesco ones are a bit cheaper at £1.50 for 100. You have the options of plain or one with 4 different colours (blue, green, pink and yellow).

Photo album

I wanted to get a little photo album in preparation for uni. I'll probably use it to put a selection of my favourite pictures of friends and family. This one is nice and compact and very plain. It was £1.50 from Paperchase.

I can't find it online, but I'm sure I've seen it in store fairly recently.

Post it notes

I got this off my auntie when she came to stay. She knows me well! I love the way that the different sizes slot perfectly into place in the metal tin. It was from M&S.

Lollipop sticks

The purpose of these is pretty much the same as the question cards. I put them into a little cup on my desk and randomly pick them out and answer the question. I got these from The Works for 2 for £2. Only downside is that half of them are an assortment of colours and half of the packet are plain.
